Harper Visits the Most Magical Place on Earth

Harper has been battling a chronic lung disease from the time she was born, and had her first heart reconstruction at just two-weeks-old. Since then, Harper has undergone many surgeries and has spent most of her life in and out hospitals. During some of the lowest points in her battle, her favorite Disney characters she read about in books and watched on screen helped bring her comfort and hope.

Other Ways to Help

When wish granters visited Harper, she told them that her one-true-wish was to have a tea party with the Disney princesses at Walt Disney World® Resort. In November of 2015, Harper’s wish came true.

The fun began almost as soon as she and her family arrived in sunny Orlando, Florida. “All she wanted to do was meet the princesses,” said Kyla Gillespie, Harper’s mom.

From the moment Harper walked through the gates of Disney World she was on a mission to meet every princess and Disney character in the park.

One of her favorite memories was getting to watch the Disney parade with princess Aurora. The rest of the week was a dream-come-true. Harper watched the Beauty and the Beast show at least a dozen times, met Elsa and Anna from Disney’s Frozen, and had a blast swimming in the pool at her Give Kids the World villa.

“She wanted to do it all,” said Gillespie.

As much as she loved meeting her favorite Disney characters, Harper had the most fun spending time with her family.

“Little things like eating dinner together as a family were so special,” said Gillespie.

Harper and her family will be able to look back on their wish experience for years to come, and be reminded of the hope, strength, and joy of a wish-come-true.
