• Applications Being Taken for Shelby County Citizens' University


    The Shelby County Mayor's Office is now accepting applications for those who would like to be part of the Shelby County Citizens' University.

    "The ten-week course is held on Thursday evenings. Citizens get a behind the scenes look at how county government works and how their tax dollars are spent,"

    Presentations Include:


    • Chief Administrative Officer
    • Administration and Finance
    • Community Services
    • Corrections
    • Health Department
    • Planning and Development
    • Public Works
    • Public Affairs
    • County Attorney
    • Public Defender
    • Office of Preparedness
    • Elected Officials (Trustee, Sheriff, County Clerk, Assessor)
    • County Commission

    The first session of the ten-week course will be held on Thursday, August 15th   from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Sessions continue on Thursday nights with graduation on October 17th, 2013.
