MPD: Child in critical condition after shooting at Somerset Park Apartments

UPDATE at 1:44 p.m.:

Police told FOX13 a white car rolled up to the apartments in the 3400 block of Winchetser Park, pointed a gun out the passenger window and fired shots.

UPDATE at 12:30 p.m.:

Memphis Police Department now says an 11-year-old girl has been shot in the 3400 block of Winchester Park.

Here is what we know:

  • 11-year-old transported to LeBonheur in critical condition
  • MPD responded to the shooting call at 11:59 a.m.
  • MPD asking if anyone has seen shell casings
  • FOX13 has learned the incident happened at Somerset Park Apartments
  • No suspect information available at this time

UPDATE at 12:06 p.m.:

Minutes after Memphis Police Department issued the information regarding the shooting call regarding the 10-year-old victim, they discovered the call was "bogus."

A 10-year-old girl was shot in the Whitehaven area, according to the Memphis Police Department. 

Memphis police say the call came in around 11:50 a.m. in the 3400 block of Lakeview. 

Her condition is unknown at this time.
