Fairley Elementary School Hosts College Week

Memphis, TN September 9-13, 2013 – In an effort to promote college awareness, Fairley Elementary School will participate in College Week, on September 9 -13, 2013.

The goal of College Week is to provide all students the opportunity to be exposed to college with hope that our student will attend college in the future. Fairley Elementary School will offer college focused activities for students in grades PreK through fifth grade.  The week's activities are below.

Tuesday, September 10, 2013 – President Johnnie B. Watson will speak to fifth graders about behavior and academics during an assembly at 9:30 a.m. Alexandria Jackson will welcome students and the President of the Historical Black College.

Wednesday, September 11, 2013 – LeMoyne Owen College will host a step show for our student body at 1:30 p.m. in our school's cafeteria. Also students, teachers and staff will participate in Professional Dress Day.

Thursday, September 12, 2013 – Tennessee State University will share with students in a "Rah, Rah, Hooray, College is the Way! Meet and Greet beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Friday, September 13, 2013 – Students, teachers and staff will participate in College paraphernalia Day.

Students in grades 3-5 have to complete a college research project to be presented during the Reading Language Arts class.
