Fincher announced Monday he will not seek re-election, and plans to retire.

Kelsey currently represents Cordova, East Memphis and Germantown in the Tennessee State Legislature. He tweeted a photo Monday afternoon that said “Kelsey for Congress,” and wrote in the tweet, “Yes, I'm in.”

Former U.S. Attorney David Kustoff thanked Fincher for his service to Tennessee and said he will be running.

"I want to thank Congressman Fincher for his service to our country and for fighting for conservative values in Washington.  I strongly believe our state deserves a Congressman who will continue the fight for Tennessee values and principals, and that is why I will be candidate for the 8th Congressional District," Kustoff said.

FOX13 has confirmed Shelby County Commissioner Steve Basar will run for the Fincher's seat.

Basar called FOX13's Darrell Greene to announce his intentions.

FOX13 reporters are reaching out to other potential candidates. Stay with FOX13Memphis.com for updates.
