• Kids helping kids at South Park Elementary

Students at South Park Elementary School spent nearly a month saving up to help children with cancer.

Their goal was to raise $1500 to go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

For three weeks students brought in pennies and other change to the school in support of the fundraiser. By the time they finished they not only met their goal, but smashed it, raising $2593.12.

"We wanted to do it so we could raise the money…to help people survive longer", said Allie, a 5th grader at the school.

Assistant Principal Dr. Tanisha Heaston said, "We're so excited about this because this initiative helped our students understand how important it is to help others."

The students celebrated their fundraising achievement at an assembly Monday morning.
