FOX13’s Tom Dees reported two suspects are still on the run after the robbery and shooting.  FOX13 video shows a large crime scene in Clarksdale currently.

Sources told FOX13 News officers were investigating an armed robbery at the Corner Grocery at the intersection of Second Street and Sunflower in Clarksdale.

The shooting itself, however, occurred about five blocks from the store, across the street from the Clarksdale Police Department.

That's where Clarksdale Mayor Bill Luckett said an officer was shot at by one of the suspects from the store robbery.

FOX13’s Jeremy Pierre saw the medevac helicopter land at Regional One shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday.  Several unmarked police cars from Coahoma County arrived at the hospital minutes later, bringing family members to the trauma center.

Interim Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings and members of the Memphis Police Department’s command staff are at the hospital offering their assistance.

The Clarksdale Police Department has not named the officer.

FOX13 learned officers are reviewing security video from the store where the robbery took place to help identify the suspects.

Several Mississippi law enforcement agencies are assisting with the investigation.

FOX13’s Tom Dees will have live reports from Clarksdale beginning at 6 a.m. Sunday on Good Morning Memphis.
