Quinton Tellis has officially been indicted on capital murder and third-degree arson charges in the murder of Jessica Chambers.
Tellis, 27, is from Courtland, Mississippi. He is currently in jailed in Ouchita Parish, Louisiana, on unrelated charges. He is not expected to return to Mississippi to face his charges until he is done with his charges in Louisiana.
Investigators say they interviewed Tellis in December 2014, shortly after Chambers was burned alive on a Panola County backroad.
Tellis is charged with capital murder. The Panola County District Attorney John Champion says he does not expect any other individuals to be charged in the case.
Champion told the media that Tellis is a gang member, but investigators never believed the crime was drug or gang-related. He also said investigators followed leads in Iowa and Chattanooga.
Chambers knew Tellis through a friend, according to investigators.
