Investigators said someone ignited the fire at Divas and Diamonds Beauty Shop along N. Evergreen around 1 a.m. Fortunately, crews were able to prevent the flames from spreading next door to Richardson home.
"I just don't have no answers for this craziness in this world," Richardson said. "We are going to have to do some serious praying with the Lord."
Floyd Christian, who lives behind the shop came to see for himself the devastation left behind.
"Something is wrong. I just can't believe it," Christian said.
Emotions ran high as the family of the woman who refurbished and reopened the shop saw for themselves piles of charred debris.
"If anyone knows anything please let us know," Lathea Caraway said. "This is heartbreaking."
Things were even worse inside as the shop was left gutted.
Neighbors are now looking at ways to better protect themselves and their property.
"I always said nothing will change until it hits your door and you will change it," Richardson said. "That's going to make me install some better cameras. Whoever did this, God rest on your soul--that's all I can say--God rest on his soul."
According to Memphis fire, arsonist caused nearly $45,000 in damages.
