Memphis baseball bounced back from its first loss of the season, beating Samford 8-3 to win their first road series of the season.
The Tigers overcame an early 2-0 deficit to come out on top. Starter Dylan Toscano gave up two runs in the first inning but settled down to throw five solid innings. The Tiger bullpen came on strong, closing the game on three scoreless innings from Nolan Blackwood, who picked up his third win of the season.
The Tigers took the lead back for good in the 6th inning. Darien Tubbs and Zach Willis walked to start the inning and Kane Barrow singled to load the bases.
The Tigers then got a couple of productive outs from Carter White and Nate Rupiper, allowing Tubbs and Barrow to advance and score on consecutive groundouts.
Ethan Gross singled home Barrow to give the Tigers the 3-2 lead to close the inning.
The Tigers notched four insurance runs in the 7th inning to secure the win.
The Tigers (6-1) host Belmont on Tuesday, February 25th.
