Head Coach Daron Schoenrock and the University of Memphis baseball program are proud to announce Kansas City Royals Vice President of Operations and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer George Brett as the featured speaker at the 2014 Meet the Tigers Baseball Banquet to be held on Friday, January 17 at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn, located at 3700 Central Avenue.
Sponsored by the University of Memphis Bullpen Club, an address by Brett will highlight the evening that will include dinner, preseason comments from Schoenrock and an introduction of the 2014 Tigers roster. The festivities will begin at 7 p.m.
"We are honored and thrilled to have Hall of Famer George Brett commit to coming to spend the evening with Memphis Tigers Baseball." Schoenrock said. "President (Brad) Martin's friendship with George was instrumental in securing George and I personally thank him for that. This will be a wonderful event for all involved and a great way to launch our 2014 season."
Brett is in his 21st year as the Royals Vice President of Baseball Operations, continuing his long-time association with the organization. He played 21 seasons for the Royals, collecting 3,154 hits, three batting titles and a Most Valuable Player Award. The Royals retired Brett's number 5 and inducted him into the Royals Hall of Fame on May 14, 1994.
