A large cast of new faces made their Memphis debuts, and the Tigers knocked off LeMoyne-Owen 101-78 in their first and only exhibition game of 2017.
The only two returning starters on the team set the tone for the Tigers, as Jeremiah Martin added in 14 points, two assists and a team-high four steals, and Jimario Rivers scored nine points in just 14 minutes played.
But there were a handful of newcomers to stand out in their first taste of D-1 ball. Kyvon Davenport led the Tigers in scoring with an efficient 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, and sharpshooting freshman Jamal Johnson poured in 14 points while hitting four shots from three-point range.
The Tigers will have to gather as much momentum as possible, as they start their regular season on November 10th against Alabama.
