Anchor/Reporter, Arts & Culture Reporter, FOX13 News
Darcy Thomas is currently reporting weeknights and anchoring weekends on FOX13 News.
She began her career in this ever changing journalism field in 1995 at a single market station in Jonesboro, Arkansas at KAIT-TV8. The station quickly became the foundation for many years in this business. At such a small station, Darcy wore many hats as a general assignment reporter, producer, photographer and editor.
After two years in Jonesboro, Darcy moved on to Peoria, IL where she continued her career at WMBD-TV Ch. 31. She started off as a reporter for two years, and soon became the weekend anchor for her final two years at this station.
In her quest to keep growing as a journalist, Darcy was offered a job as a reporter in Memphis, Tennessee and FOX13 in 2001.
She is a graduate of Columbia College in Chicago, IL who received her degree in broadcast journalism in 1994.
Darcy says the joy and inspiration of this business.. is no two stories are exactly alike. TV news is a perpetual spinning wheel.. constantly changing and evolving. She has seen the best of the best in people, such as Mid-Southerners reaching out to a woman with lupus and three children during Christmas. People reached out providing a tree, toys, clothing and food.
She has also see the worst of the worst..
Darcy has worked with several organizations over the years including F-PWA (Friend of People with Aids). She has been a member of the National Association of Black Journalist and Memphis Association of Black Journalist of the Television of Arts Society at Columbia College.
Darcy was married in August of 2003 and has two daughters.
She is the oldest of four children and her motto is " Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.... Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure" by Nelson Mandela.
