MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An early morning shooting in Whitehaven left one 25 year old man in critical condition while MPD searches for the gunman.
It happened at Pure Passion night club, a place that has had its issues with shootings in the past.
Shots rang out in the early morning hours on Monday at Pure Passion night club. It is a sound that has been heard there before. The victim told police that he was leaving the club to retrieve something from his car, and that is when the suspect struck him multiple times.

The victim tried to run, but that is when he was shot.
The victim told police the suspect then stole cash and got away in a silver car.
FOX13 tried to contact the owners of the club, but our calls went unanswered.
Pure Passion has had more than its share of run-ins with violence in the past. Just last November, a string of shootings, three in the span of a month had the owners of the club, along with Shelby County District Attorney and the City's Attorney’s Office agree to shut the club down for 30 days to address security concerns.
The club was supposed to re-open with new security cameras with the capability of being monitored by the MPD at the Real Time Crime Center. We have asked MPD if those cameras were installed and if the cameras were working during this latest shooting that's plagued this Whitehaven neighborhood.
District Attorney Amy Weirich told FOX13 via email, "The MPD is investigating this latest shooting incident. While the club owners have taken measures to address security concerns, our office will continue to work with MPD to ensure the measures taken are effective."
