The 24-year-old person of interest is still at large.
Family of the one-year-old girl who was shot in Parkway Village gathered at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital minutes after learning of the child’s death.
Wanda Keefer is the child’s aunt. She still can't believe what happened.
"It's just like a nightmare,” Keefer said.
Police said a 24-year-old man is a person of interest in the shooting. He ran away from the crime scene.
Keefer told FOX13 the man is a friend of the baby’s mother who was home when the shooting happened.
"We don't know where the gun was at, she had her back turned,” Keefer said. "We don't know if he dropped it, we just don't know at this time.”
The potential suspect has been detained, according to MPD.
