2-year-old Detroit Amber Alert girl safe after being kidnapped at gunpoint by mother's boyfriend

DETROIT, Mich. - UPDATE: 2-year-old Sondra is safe, and the suspect is in custody, according to the Detroit Police Department.

A desperate search is underway and an Amber Alert is active after a 2-year-old Detroit girl was kidnapped early Tuesday morning. 

2-year-old Sondra Renee was kidnapped at gunpoint from her aunt's home in the 21000 block of Karl in Detroit. 

Police said Grady Lamar Barrett is the man who took her. He is the mother's boyfriend and is not Sondra's biological father. 

Sondra's aunt was babysitting for her mother. 

Barrett escaped in a black 2009 GMC Sierra truck with Michigan plate number DAS-8417 with a trailer attached to the truck. The plate number on the trailer is D76667. The trailer also has a sign on the side with G&G Landscaping, Snow Removal and Grass Cutting. 

Barrett is described as 42 years old, 6', 278 lbs, bald with a thick beard and mustache. 

Sondra is 2 years old, 2'5", with brown hair and brown eyes, braids, and a dark complexion.
