MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A close family friend of Susan Grissom, the woman killed on Mud Island this week, is speaking out.

The mysterious murder is puzzling investigators, family and friends.

For 7 years Carrie Sanders lived on Mud Island.  She’s a close family friend of Susan Grissom.

“To know Susan was to love Susan, when it's someone that you know it really hits home,” Sanders said.

Sanders kept calling Susan a ‘ray of sunlight’ when remembering who the world lost this week adding, “They lost one of the kindest, gentlest most fun people I've ever met.”

Sanders said she just saw Susan and her husband downtown in the last two months, “If you saw one of them you saw both of them together, they were inseparable.”

Sanders said the obvious questions come and go.  Like who killed Susan? And Why was her life taken so early?

It’s a more somber thought Sanders can’t get out of her mind adding, “How horrifying it was for her in those last few minutes and I feel so sorry for her family.”
