MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Tuesday, Memphis police made their biggest child porn arrest in history. Detectives found hundreds of videos and more than 1,000 explicit pictures of children.

Terence Gatlin, 34, is now behind bars for 262 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Police said the suspect had been gathering images and eluding police for months. Some of the images involved babies as young as three-months-old.

Neighbors on Effie Road in South Memphis could not believe what police arrested Terence Gatlin for in house 1297.

“It’s actually mind-boggling because it’s kind of scary knowing somebody that close to home,” said Stanley Ingram, who has lived on Effie his whole life.

“It’s just unbelievable, unthinkable,” said Yolanda Ingram-Williams.

Police charged Gatlin with 262 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

“His record is longer than mine,” said Stanley.

According to an arrest affidavit, investigators found 333 videos and 1,221 pictures of child pornography on the 34-year-old's cell phone.

“That man been hiding down there doing something real sick,” said Stanley Ingram.

“He wasn’t one to be out a lot. He stayed harbored in the house a lot,” said Yolanda-Williams.

Neighbors said what makes this crime even more concerning is that Gatlin lived just five houses down from a home daycare.

“It is so close to home, it’s scary. very scary,” said Rosiland Mitchell, who takes her two-year-old to the daycare five days a week.

Police said Gatlin did not produce any of the pornography, but he was uploading it online.

“Kudos to the MPD because something like this is so hard to put your finger on,” said Ingram.

People on the block said they are happy Gatlin’s behind bars.

Now they are looking at their neighbors differently, and wondering what other crimes are happening behind closed doors.

"You wouldn’t know, that is the thing. But you just have to be mindful," said Mitchell.
