MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A Memphis man was shot in both legs while walking down the street in the Kimball neighborhood, according to MPD.
Officers said the victim did not recognize the vehicle that shot at him.
The incident took place in the 1500 block of Echles St.
Investigators said the incident took place around 6:50 a.m.
Maps show the shooting happened, about 1,000 feet away from St. Georges Independent School at a time when many kids across the city start heading to class.
That news scared mom, Shakerdra Sutton. She said she never lets them go to school alone.
“I stay close to my kids,” Sutton said. “Me and their father, we stay close to our kids and you know try to keep them safe,”
She tells me she used to live in the area, but moved to East Memphis. When FOX13 asked her what she thought about the shooting, she said she was shocked.
“Bad that Memphis is like this,” she said. “Make people just want to leave and go.”
The victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital, his condition is unknown.
