Crews responded to the call around 5:35 a.m. in the area of Bellevue and Lamar.

Police said 40-year-old Gentry Wright died while walking southbound crossing Lamar at Bellevue. They said he was walking on the west side of the street in the crosswalk when he was hit by a tractor trailer.

MPD said the impact flipped him into the air, causing him to land on the windshield of a second vehicle.

They said he rolled off of that car into the eastbound lanes of Lamar and was struck again by a third vehicle.

MPD said neither the tractor trailer nor the third vehicle stopped. The second driver called 911.

The second driver was given a traffic citation for financial responsibility.
