Police release details of Blac Youngsta's arrest

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta was jailed in North Carolina on Tuesday.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department told FOX13 Blac Youngsta, whose real name is Sammie Benson, was charged for his involvement in a February 26 shooting involving another Memphis rapper, Young Dolph.

Officers said the shooting happened in the 600 block of N. Caldwell Street in Charlotte.

Young Dolph was riding to his concert when more than 100 rounds were fired into his vehicle, TMZ said. No one was injured in the incident.

Police asserted that multiple apartment units and vehicles were struck in the shooting. 

23-year-old Frederick Black and 20-year-old Antavius Gardner have also been charged. 

The men turned themselves in at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.  Blac Youngsta was released a few hours later.

All three suspects have each been charged with six counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property and felony conspiracy.

This is an ongoing investigation.
