UPDATE: A woman who police say was suicidal and had to be rescued from a river is now facing charges after one of the officers working to save her died.

Juli Glisson, 40, was the driver who police said drove her car into the river. Officer Mumaw rushed into the river after her and was caught by the current. Metro Nashville police said her actions caused the death of Officer Eric Mumaw. She will be charged with aggravated vehicular homicide.
A second officer was able to make it out of the water and is in stable condition.

A Nashville police officer has died while working to rescue a woman from a river.
Metro Nashville police confirmed 44-year-old Eric Mumaw died Thursday morning.
Mumaw was an 18-year veteran of MNPD.

Police were able to rescue the woman they said was suicidal who went into the Cumberland River.
Mumaw was unaccounted for since 4:40 a.m.
