    LONDON -

President Donald Trump will pay an official state visit to the United Kingdom in early June, Buckingham Palace announced Tuesday.

“The President of The United States of America, President Donald J. Trump, accompanied by Mrs Melania Trump, has accepted an invitation from Her Majesty The Queen to pay a State Visit to the UK,” the palace tweeted just after noon London time

The trip, scheduled for June 3-5, will mark Trump’s first state visit to the country. Although Trump met with the queen last summer, that trip was considered a “working visit,” CNN reported. In contrast, state visits usually feature “royal pomp including a banquet with the queen at Buckingham Palace,” according to The Associated Press.

The announcement came as the queen’s great-grandson, Prince Louis, celebrated his first birthday and just days after the queen celebrated her own 93rd birthday. The queen’s grandson, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, also are expecting a baby soon.
