Congressman Steve Cohen’s plan to establish a minimum seat size standard for airline passengers failed in Washington Thursday.
The SEAT Act was a part of a plan to urge the Federal Aviation Administration to increase the shrinking size of airplane seats for the safety and health of airline passengers.
Questioning safety as well, Cohen wondered if people would be able to evacuate quickly in case of an emergency.
The House Transportation panel voted to ground the bill.
Cohen says he will attempt to push the proposal in a stand-alone bill.
