SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. - A firefighter and a homeowner were taken to the hospital after a home went up in flames in Shelby County, according to the Shelby County Fire Department (SCFD).
SCFD said the fire at the home in the Spring Lake neighborhood happened on March 9 around 3 a.m.
Smoke was coming from all over the home and a firefighter was hit and trapped by falling roof materials, the fire department said.
That firefighter was removed from the collapse zone and taken to a hospital for neck and shoulder pain, SCFD said. He was later released with only minor injuries.
SCFD said the homeowner was also taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
It took firefighters 25 minutes to bring the fire under control.
