MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Tragedy struck a Memphis neighborhood late Wednesday night when a 2-year-old boy was shot and killed, according to the Memphis Police Department.
MPD said the shooting happened near a house on Clayton Ave. around 10 p.m. Jan. 12.
The toddler’s family confirmed to FOX13 that he was 2 years old, not a 1-year-old, as previously reported.
The child was pronounced deceased at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, police said.
According to Memphis Police, another person was shot and rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.
On Thursday, police clarified the toddler was the only victim in the shooting.
No information about a suspect has been released, and police are actively working the case as a homicide investigation.
