MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Schools and Mouth the South will host a Virtual Block Party.

In the past, this event promoted anti-violence and meeting enrollment and registration goals for SCS. Because of the pandemic, this year’s event will happen virtually.

Well-known Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo will donate 10,000 facemasks to the faculty and students of SCS, plus there will also be performances and special guests.

“We are in unprecedented times that require us all to do more,” said Artemis “Peppa” Williams, the event organizer. “I commend Moneybagg, SCS and all other entities that are going above and beyond for our students in these difficult times.”

“This pandemic has negatively affected so many lives, but it has also shown that there is power in numbers and that no matter who you are you can bring positive change”, said Moneybagg Yo. I hope that these masks play a part in keeping our children and teachers safe as we continue to find more ways that we can assist.”

The block party is Thursday at 6 p.m. on the school district’s website and all social media platforms.
