Friday:

The Science of Beer

Pink Palace Family of Museums presents the Science of Beer from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Central Ave.

Attendees will learn how some of Memphis’ breweries and restaurants brew their finest beers, from the aquifers to ales and carbonation to climate change.

All must be 21 and older to attend.

Dreamfest Weekend 9

Dreamfest Weekend will be at the Lounge at Minglewood Hall on Madison Ave. from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This event is to showcase the Memphis music scene and to honor those who made Memphis big in music.

The Magic Basement

The Woodruff-Fontaine House Museum presents The Magic Basement from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Adams Ave.

The event will showcase magic tricks through the decades from optical illusions to close ups, plus the house’s famous ghost will make an appearance.

Wolf River 5K

The Wolf River Conservancy and Wolf River Greenway presents the Wolf River 5K that starts at 8 a.m.

The proceeds from the 5K will benefit the Wolf River Conservancy.

Peanut Butter & Jam: Middle Eastern Music and Dance

GPAC on Exeter Rd. presents Peanut Butter & Jam: Middle Eastern Music and Dance from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Attendees will experience a vast array of dance styles and music from across the region, plus learn about the culture.

MLK Day of Service: Rainbow Crosswalk

Throughout the weekend, the city is participating in MLK Day of Service with multiple events.

From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Memphis Rainbow Crosswalk, come and see the Tennessee’s first Rainbow Crosswalk and donate to the Thermoplastic and street bond needed to install more items in the area.

Read with the Stars at The Hollywood Library

The Collective-Memphis and Memphis Friends of the Library presents the Read with the Stars at the Hollywood Library from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on N. Hollywood St.

The event aims to improve literacy, honor Martin Luther King Jr., engage the community and promote the libraries.

There will be a host of activities for all ages.
