17-year-old boy in critical condition after being shot in Frayser, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Frayser community is on edge after two teens were shot on Frayser Boulevard in separate incidents hours apart.

Just after midnight, Memphis police went to a call in the 2700 block of Frayser Boulevard where a 17-year-old was rushed to the hospital after being shot.

Memphis Fire officials confirmed a 17-year-old boy was rushed to Regional One.

Memphis Police later confirmed he was in critical condition.

Police are still working to discover exactly where the shooting happened.

Hours earlier, someone shot and killed an 18-year-old at the Popeye’s on Frayser Boulevard.

FOX13′s Jeremy Pierre spoke with people in Frayser about what they hope happens to get the gunmen off the street.

“Y’all need to stop the killing because it’s senseless,” said Felicia Fleming.

It’s a simple message that many in Frayser say is easier said than done.

Fleming told FOX13 that since Tuesday afternoon’s shooting at Popeye’s she’s been looking over her shoulder and doing everything to stay safe.

“The one at Popeye’s - 18 years old. They was about to graduate,” said Fleming. “Y’all killing all of our kids. So what future do we have?”

Just after midnight, Wednesday police responded down the street in the 2700 block of Frayser Boulevard where a 17-year-old was taken to the hospital after someone shot him in another area.

“Seventeen, 2-year-old, 4-year-old, 10-year-old. The person with the gun, you going to get caught,” Fleming said.

Memphis Police said they are investigating the two shootings separately.

Fleming said hopefully the gunmen are caught before they hurt anyone else.

“It’s a lose-lose situation. You got the victim’s family, and you got the person who done it. Y’all are going to get caught,” she said.
