3 Memphis men arrested for stealing catalytic converters in Arkansas

FORREST CITY, Ark. — Three Memphis men were arrested in Forrest City, Arkansas, charged with stealing catalytic converters, Forrest City Police said.

Around 5:45 Thursday morning, police were alerted to men under vans at Superior Vending located at 1004 E Broadway Avenue. The caller reported hearing sawing noises and told officers that when traffic started passing by the business, the men went to the gas station in a white Silverado with Tennessee tags.

When officers arrived, they discovered a freshly cut catalytic converter and Sawzall tools inside the truck. They also found crack cocaine and a crack pipe.

They also found several vans had damage to the catalytic converters.

Damein Porter, Eric Massey, and James Johnson were arrested and charged with felony theft of property, felony criminal mischief, felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of an instrument of crime, and misdemeanor criminal trespassing.
