40 Memphis kids are getting brand new beds for Christmas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Forty beds were donated to kids in the Memphis area Thursday morning, and that means something, especially when these kids have been sleeping on couches or even the floor.

“It’s a great thing to be able to have help closer to the holidays,” said Memphis mom, Latina.

For mothers like Latina, a mother of three, it’s the perfect gift.

“You got to be grateful to have somebody willing to help you,” said Latina.

Ashley Homestore’s Hope to dream program and Youth Villages aimed to bring comfort and joy to a few families this holiday season.

The gesture is a sign of love to people they consider their family too.

“They are a part of our family, and so this is a great way for us to show them love as a part of our family,” said Youth Village Director of Development, Katie Jones.

Sharonda Taylor picked up a new bed for her daughter, who had a different sleeping situation for some time.

“My daughter, she’s going from sleeping on an air mattress to sleeping on a brand new bed,” Taylor.

And now, these children won’t need to worry about getting a good night’s rest.

“Being here today is so exciting, as a part of our goal with Hope to Dream is to make sure every kid has a place to lay their head at night,” said Mary Parker, A social media specialist with Ashley Homestore.

The parents are grateful for this gift, and their kids can’t wait either.

“I think she’s going to be very excited about it. She hasn’t seen it, and I think it’s going to be even better when she sees the bed,” said Taylor.
