6 dead, 1 critical in just over 7 hours after violence strikes Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Six people are dead and one person is in critical condition after violence struck in Memphis in just over a 7-hour period.

The violence started just after 5 p.m. Saturday when one man was shot.

MPD said the man was shot at the intersection of Country Meadow Lane and Winding Lane.

The man was rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Memphis Police said they are looking for two men who were last seen heading towards Whitten Rd. in connection to this shooting.

MPD then responded to another shooting at 2778 Pickering Dr.

When FOX13 crews arrived, police were searching the area around The Reserve at Mt. Moriah apartments as a car was being towed from the scene.

The man was found dead in the driver’s seat of a black sedan, police said.

No information about the shooter or shooters has been released at this time.

The violence continued after a man was found shot.

MPD said the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Saturday night in the 2000 block of West Shelby Drive.

When police made the scene, they reported finding the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers then responded to the 3700 block of N. Watkins Street just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday for another shooting.

One man was found unresponsive suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

According to MPD, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no suspect information available.

The violence didn’t end before the night was over.

Memphis Police responded just before midnight Saturday to a shooting victim on S. B. B. King Boulevard and Union Avenue.

The passenger of the car was found suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

According to police, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting occurred in the area of Trigg and Olive, police said.

The violence continued into the early morning hours of Sunday when officers responded to the 1000 block of Homer Street just after midnight Sunday to a shooting.

An unresponsive man was found and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

According to MPD, one woman is being questioned.

To add to the deadly night, Memphis Police responded just before 12:15 a.m. Sunday to a hit-and-run crash at E. Shelby Drive near Gill Road.

According to police, a woman was walking her dog across the street when someone driving a dark-colored pickup truck struck them then fled the scene.

The dog and the woman did not survive, police said.
