6-year-old in critical condition following shooting, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police say a 6-year-old child is in critical condition following “a self-inflicted injury” Friday evening.

The child was shot in the 500 block of Wesley Woods in Cordova, according to police.

Someone was taking the child to the hospital when they flagged down officers near North Germantown Parkway and Trinity Road.

Police said the child is in critical condition at Le Bonheur.

It’s unclear how the child got the gun and what exactly led to the shooting.

FOX13 is also working to learn the sex of the child. Police didn’t say if the victim is a boy or girl.
