7 shootings in 9 hours: 3 killed after gun violence rocks Memphis overnight

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Gun violence devastated the city of Memphis overnight.

FOX13 confirmed seven shootings over the course of nine hours.

Three people were killed.

The first shooting happened just after 8 p.m.

Memphis police confirmed a man died after shots rang out Downtown on Joubert Avenue.

No suspect information was released.

Around 10 p.m., a woman was shot and killed at an East Memphis gas station.

She was shot at an Exxon in the 4100 block of Kirby Parkway.

She was rushed to Regional One, but did not survive her injuries.

A second woman was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition, police said.

Preliminary information indicates the women were involved in an altercation with other women before the shooting.

No arrests have been made, police said.

Just an hour later a man was shot in Memphis’ historic Vollintine-Evergreen district.

Memphis Fire officials said the shooting happened at N. Watkins and Snowden Avenue.

Around 12:30 a.m., a man was shot in the leg near Midtown.

Memphis Fire officials said the victim was rushed to Regional One from the 300 block of Haynes.

No suspect information was released.

A man was shot in the face around 3 a.m. at a Love’s truck stop on Lamar Avenue.

As the scene unfolded, police also responded to a motel across the street.

No information has been released on the victim’s condition or a possible suspect.

Just half an hour later, police said a man died and a woman was injured in a double shooting in Whitehaven.

The shooting happened on Orleans Road.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital, but the man died from his injures.

A witness reported hearing over 15 gunshots during the shooting.

Finally, at 5 a.m., Memphis police said one person was rushed to the hospital after a shooting in the Bethel Grove area.
