American Airlines confirms possible security threat on Memphis flight, FBI responds

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — American Airlines confirms that there was a possible security threat Saturday morning on one of their flights at the Memphis Airport.

American Eagle flight 4245, an Embraer 175, was set to depart Memphis just before 8 a.m. when a possible security threat onboard happened, officials said.

The flight was headed to Dallas.

Memphis Airport Spokesperson Glen Thomas said the flight crew identified a non-specified threat from a passenger prior to takeoff.

The passengers were transported back to the terminal for rescreening.

According to an FBI spokesperson, the FBI did respond to the airport for this incident but is no longer involved.

The flight was deemed secure sometime Saturday afternoon and will be rescheduled for departure, Thomas said.
