Another suspect charged after man murdered in southeast Shelby County, officials say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Another man has been arrested for a shooting in Southeast Shelby County.

Shelby County Sherriff’s Office (SCSO) detectives arrested Jarrod Kenard Macklin Vaughn, 30, and charged him with first-degree murder and other felonies.

The charges against Phillip Jones and Jeremiah Chalmers have been upgraded to first-degree murder.

The investigation is still ongoing.

The shooting of 25-year-old Malik Smith occurred on May 5, at approximately 12:00 PM in the 6700 block of Quail Crest Lane.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
