OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — A beauty supplier is expanding and creating new jobs in North Mississippi.
Voyant Beauty makes hotel bar soap and other products and owns a manufacturing facility in Olive Branch. As FOX13 found out, the governor of Mississippi was on hand for the big announcement.
The plant expansion at Voyant is scheduled to start soon. They are going to go from making bar soap to making liquid soap and cosmetics as well.
”This announcement today by Voyant Beauty is a great opportunity,” Governor Tate Reeves said.
The project is a multi-million dollar corporate investment in a facility that was at risk of being shut down.
“Rather than moving, they chose to invest almost 15 million dollars by hiring almost an additional 80 people,” Reeves said.
Reeves told us that he is not surprised by the expansion. Voyant, we are told, will more than double its production and staffing here at their facility near the Olive Branch Airport. While the growth is good, the governor joked about needing to buy an apartment in North Mississippi for job announcements in Desoto County.
”Since I have been governor, we have seen over 460 million in new capital investment here in Desoto county alone,” Reeves said.
Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams said the addition of more business in town means dollars earned here will stay here.
”These are local dollars that come from jobs like this that turn over six and seven times in our area when they are made in a place like this.” Adams said.
