Body found in drainage ditch prompts investigation by state police

WYNNE, Ark. — State police in Arkansas are looking for answers after a body was discovered in a shallow drainage ditch on Sunday.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the body of a man was recovered in Wynne, Arkansas around 3 p.m. on November 28.

Two days later, that man was identified as 70-year-old Howard Earl Holmes.

Police said someone saw the body while walking near 503 Front St. and told a local police officer about the discovery.

AR State Police have taken over the investigation into how Holmes died at the request of the Wynne Police Department.

Holmes’ body was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine his identity and cause of death.

Arkansas State Police have asked anybody with information about Holmes’ whereabouts dating back to Nov. 2 to contact them or the Wynne Police Department.
