Carjacking suspect killed in fight with would-be victim, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — You hear about carjackings across the city of Memphis often. You may have even been a victim. But you don’t often hear about victims fighting off thieves and sending them to the hospital. FOX13 shares that man’s story and discusses what you should do if you find yourself in that same situation.

“I would be utterly freaked out if I got carjacked, but I think I would just let them take the car,” said Kathy Fay, Memphis.

“The person may not have a gun. but they could have a person standing by just in case there is a person standing by in case a person resists,” said Collins.

“Of course you have a right to defend yourself, but any loss of life is a tragedy,” said Wheeler.
