Child taken to Le Bonheur after fire breaks out at apartments, MFD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A child was taken to Le Bonheur Saturday night after a fire broke out at an apartment complex.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to the 5100 block of Wayfarer Circle to the Cedar Mill Apartments and Townhomes just before 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters reported heavy fire visible from the two-story wood-frame apartments, MFD said.

There were 15 pieces of equipment and about 38 firefighters that responded.

The fire was brought under control just before 11 p.m., fire officials said.

A 10-year-old child was taken to Le Bonheur for minor cuts he got when he climbed out a window.

Those in the apartments had a working smoke detector.
