CHOP SHOP BUST: SCSO finds several stolen cars from across area, officials say

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has busted a chop shop.

On May 5, SCSO detectives executed search warrants at two N. Highland Street locations and found multiple stolen vehicles, a release said.

Officials said one of the locations was a warehouse and was used as a vehicle “chop shop.”

A dozen stolen vehicles were recovered. The cars were taken from across Mid-South including one from Mississippi, one from Collierville, and 10 from Memphis, according to a tweet.

According to officials, SCSO detectives also found a stolen heavy equipment excavator and trailer, along with a stolen U-Haul Truck Trailer.

In total, 22 cars, a roll-back wrecker, three trailers, a four-wheeler, and a forklift were also found, SCSO said.

This is an ongoing investigation.
