City of Memphis announces service changes and closures for Christmas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The City of Memphis is reminding folks that several offices and services will be closed or have adjusted hours for Christmas. Below is the list released by the city.

City of Memphis offices will be closed Tuesday, December 24, and Wednesday, December 25, in observance of Christmas.

Solid waste pickup will not run Wednesday. City of Memphis customers who have garbage and recycling collections will shift one day, with Wednesday pickup on Thursday, and Thursday pickup on Friday.

• Riverside golf course

• Brooks Museum


Open Christmas Eve:

• Audubon, Crockett, Fox Meadows, Galloway, Overton Park, Pine Hill, Whitehaven golf courses

• Pink Palace Museum

• Memphis Botanic Garden


Closed Christmas Day, December 25:

• Memphis Animal Services

• Libraries

• Senior Centers

• Community Centers

• Pools

• Golf Courses

• Pink Palace Museum

• Memphis Zoo (re-opens at 5:30 p.m. for Zoo Lights)

• Memphis Botanic Garden

• Brooks Museum


MATA will run its Sunday service on Christmas. MLGW offices will be closed on Christmas and Christmas Eve, but if you need to report an outage, at 544-6500

Holiday closures will not affect the Memphis Police Department and Memphis Fire Department.
