Memphis, Tenn. — Live music, food trucks, and crowds filled up Mud Island River Park for the Annual Independence Day Spectacular Sunday.
“Everybody just hanging out, adults, kids, swimming, music, good food, representing Memphis, I love it,” said Michelle Crutchfield, who’s a born and bred Memphian.
Crutchfield and Nikki Everroad got to the park early in the afternoon to secure good spots for the firework show. The Memphis River Parks Partnership says it’s one of the biggest firework shows in the region.
“No one was sitting over here because there’s so much sun out here, but we peeped the shared behind the Memphis sign,” said Nikki Everroad.
For some families, this is their first time coming to the annual celebration.
“It’s a very refreshing feeling to get out of the house, a little bit of a cabin fever going on,” said Rachel Keating, Mud Island resident.
