MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is dead after being shot in Memphis early Thursday morning on a busy Downtown street.
The situation unfolded on Danny Thomas near Madison Avenue and Union Avenue.
At 7:13 a.m., Memphis Police officers responded to the area in reference to an accident.

Police found the man suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses described the scene as FOX13′s camera crew arrived.
“I was just sitting right here, smoking my cigarette, and we heard the gunshots and I stood up and I saw that car clip them trees, hit that wall, land right over there, and then started smoking,” one said.
A witness who wanted to remain anonymous said at first he thought someone blew a tire.
He rushed over to help, but said he wasn’t prepared for what he saw.
“I did not know that someone had got shot until I got up to the car and I saw the blood, all inside the car,” he said.
The witness said when he went to the other side of the car he saw bullet holes in the victim’s neck and head.
“All I saw was blood,” he said.
The southbound lanes of Danny Thomas were closed for hours while police searched for clues.
MPD said the investigation is ongoing.
No suspect information was released.
