MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A boys’ basketball coach at East High School has been placed on leave after allegations of domestic violence.
SCS confirmed Jevonte Holmes, 43, was placed on administrative leave pending a review of the allegations.
According to an affidavit, Memphis police were investigating a report of domestic assault on July 16 in the 1200 block of Cordova Green Road.
The victim, a woman, told police Holmes assaulted her when she tried to get clothes and leave the home.
According to the affidavit, the victim told police Holmes picked her up and threw her out of a bedroom.
She recorded the incident on her cell phone.
Holmes allegedly pinned her down and wouldn’t let her get up and leave, records show.
The victim told police she waited to file charges because she was scared and didn’t have a place to go with her two children.
Holmes is charged with domestic assault, records show.
