SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — Election Day is here in Tennessee for the state and federal primaries.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In Shelby County, early voting ended July 30.
According to the Shelby County Election Commission, over 86,000 voters cast their ballots during the early voting period.
Local key races include Shelby County District Attorney General and Shelby County Mayor.
Candidates for mayor are current county mayor Lee Harris (D) and Worth Morgan (R).
Current DA Amy Weirich (R) and Steve Mulroy (D) are in the running for the District Attorney position.
County Clerk candidates include Jeff Jacobs (R), current clerk Wanda Halbert (D), and Harold C. Smith (I).
A referendum at the end of the ballot addresses an amendment to increase term limits for Mayor and Memphis City Council, with a maximum 3-year term.
