Family Dollar employee arrested after allegedly pulling gun on customer

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local Family Dollar employee was arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on a customer.

On Nov. 23, a man said he was inside the Family Dollar at 4330 Winchester Rd. attempting to buy some items.

When he approached the cash register to pay, an employee asked him to take the hood off his head, according to an affidavit.

The customer wanted to know why he had to remove his hood and began questioning the employee about it.

An argument ensued, and the employee, identified as Desiree Harris, 26, began yelling at the man and ordered him out of the store, police said.

Harris then walked to the front door and locked it.

When the customer tried to leave, Harris began yelling at him again and pulled a gun, according to the affidavit.

Another employee stopped Harris from pointing the gun toward the customer.

No one was injured during the incident.

Harris is charged with aggravated assault, records show.
