It happened Wednesday morning.

One thing that might help police with their investigation is the surveillance footage that came from someone who lives in the area.

Now neighbors are trying to figure out why someone would kill an elderly woman.

Family members say 73-year-old Genoria Mosby was found shot to death outside her home in the 100 block of South 5th Street in Helena-West Helena.

Family members, who did not want to talk on camera, said they got a call that Mosby was on the ground.

Police hope surveillance video in the area will help give them some answers about what led to the shooting.

“Based off the information that we received and evidence that we so far have received, this was not a drive-by shooting. It appears that it’s an apparent targeting, or maybe this individual or someone that may reside with this victim,” said Chief James Smith.

A neighbor, who did not want to talk on camera because of fear of retaliation, said he heard at least four gunshots.

“That’s an elderly person that didn’t deserve that,” he stated.

Neighbors said Mosby was their church member and just got out of the hospital.

Arkansas State Police came in to investigate.
