Father, grandmother found dead; son charged with murder, court records say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A father and grandmother are dead and a family member is charged with their murder, according to the Memphis Police Department.

In records obtained by FOX13, Memphis police said Andre Jones has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deadly shooting off Amarillo Street.

After the shooting, Andre called the police and said the victims were unresponsive, according to the court documents.

Police said officers arrived at the scene and when they went into the house the smell of smoke and gunfire filled the home. Police then found the bodies of Ronald Jones, Andre’s father, and Martha Jones, Andre’s grandmother. A bullet casing was in each victim’s room, according to the documents.

The police also found a 9mm gun with what appeared to be blood on it in Andre’s room, police said.

The arrest affidavit said video from the area showed that Andre’s statement was not true and after the shooting Andre Jones was inside the house until officers got to the house and brought him outside.
