FedEx dishing out big paydays to help build up company and Memphis

Memphis, Tenn. — FedEx keeps raising hourly pay.

It’s up to $20 an hour for package handlers.

There are also several other incentives for all employees to attract more people to join their team.

“We are also going to add a $100 referral bonus to our employees who can find a friend, family neighbor, or church member that decides to join FedEx,” FedEx Senior Vice President Shannon Brown said.

It’s one of the many new incentives for FedEx employees along with the $20 an hour wage for package handlers.

Also, an incentive the company is improving is the enhancing of their tuition reimbursement policy. That helps employees who have received college degrees pay off student loans.

Brown says the moves are for the good of Memphis.

“We can continue to Memphis better, Memphis viable. So we can attract different businesses, jobs, and different opportunities for Memphis. I think we are very lucky to have a global company such as FedEx,” Brown said.

Brown says FedEx Express is also increasing the Memphis Hub Nightside Pay Premium.

Employees on the nightside operation will receive an additional $2 an hour.

FedEx also wants to attract young adults by promoting their free online programs for employees through the University of Memphis.
